According to Fort Ward Amateur Radio Club bylaws the board of director hereby gives notice of a special meeting which will take place on the following date:

May 16th Between 1-2pm

1). December 7th 2023 Memorial Commemorating “WWII Naval Radio Intercept at 1:28am PST 1941 of Japanese Pearl Harbor Raid, Starting the American Involvement in Pacific War Theater.

2). USS Gayety AM-239 Minesweeper Project “’Commemorate the Bainbridge Island War Effort To Build US Navy Admiral Class Minesweepers. To Return the AM-239 from Philippine Navy Decommissioning (82yr Active Service) to Bainbridge Island as a “National Naval Museum Ship in Motion”.

AGENDA BRIEFING

The Purpose to call this first meeting among a selected Bainbridge Islanders, for a briefing discussion concerning "December 7th Memorial Event" and Naval Museum Minesweeper Historical Landmark, as to:

  • Historical Economic Development Impact,
  • Heritage Landmark Tourism Destination,
  • Community Planning Involvement,
  • Islanders Participation Support,
  • Philippine or Mexican Diplomacy Representation,

    The Intent is formalize project steering planning direction discussion, to establish committee membership, to further project objectives:

  • Event Planning for December 7th WWII Memorial Celebration at the Former Fort Ward Naval Radio Station at "Complex Buildings 61, 16, 13 and adjacent Parade Field, including parking & ride transit shuttle.

  • Organizing Preliminary Planning Steering Committee Membership, to implement Communications and developmental planning for returning WWII Admiral Class Minesweeper built on Bainbridge Island, for Historical Landmark Designation, as a tribute to Bainbridge Islanders Contribution to WWII efforts. Therefore, to establish a "Naval Ship Museum In Motion", offering:
