    SEATTLE WEATHER

The Puget Sound region is a coastal area of the Pacific Northwest, Washington, including Puget Sound, the Puget Sound lowlands, surrounding west of the Cascade Range and east of the Olympic Mountains.

The Puget Sound inland waters was formed by the collision and attachment of many terranes ("microcontinents") to the North American Plate between about 50 to 10 million years ago. About 15,000 years ago during the Vashon Glaciation, the Puget Sound was covered by a lobe of the Cordilleran Ice Sheet.

In September 1939, the U.S. Navy relocated a secret radio listening post from Fort Stevens, Oregon, to Fort Ward on Bainbridge Island in Kitsap County, a few miles from Seattle in Puget Sound. The radio post was renamed "Station S" and began eavesdropping on Japanese messages in 1940.

The Sacramento Valley Railroad (SVRR) was incorporated on August 4, 1852, the first transit railroad company incorporated in California. Construction did not begin until February 1855 because of financial and right of way issues, and its first train operated on February 22, 1856.

Sacramento, capital of the State Of California, lies at the confluence of the Sacramento River and American River. The district of Old Sacramento harkens back to the city’s Gold Rush era, with wooden sidewalks and wagon rides.

    EMERYVILLE WEATHER

City of Emeryville is located in northwest Alameda County, California. It lies in a corridor between the cities of Berkeley and Oakland, with a border on the shore of San Francisco Bay. The resident population was 12,905 as of 2020.[7] Its proximity to San Francisco, the Bay Bridge, the University of California, Berkeley, and Silicon Valley has been a catalyst for recent economic growth.

The California and Nevada Railroad was a 3 ft narrow gauge steam railroad which ran in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 19th century. It was incorporated on March 25, 1884. J.S. Emery was listed as the railroad's president, Emeryville is named after JS Emery. Te City became known as the “Industrial Center of the West” due to the rapid development of the industrial and manufacturing plants that were established early in this century.

By the mid 1890s, JB Emery's and environs was a motley community with odiferous stockyards to the north, a paint plant and iron mill along the shore. During WWII, Federal money poured into the Bay Area’s shipbuilding and defense industries, and Emeryville geared up for war. Factories operated 24-hours a day with 3 shifts and workers came from all over the country. The town’s 185 industrial firms employed almost 30,000 workers, including many women and African-Americans, to fulfill government contracts. Existing industries, such as Pabco Paints and Westinghouse, expanded their operations, and new facilities were established, such as the Grove Regulator Company and Ryerson Steel Mill, both at 65th and Hollis Streets in old Butchertown.

    FORT MORGAN WEATHER

The first Native American Tribes in the Fort Morgan area were the Apache and the Padouca in the 16th and 17th centuries. Early in the 18th century, the Comanche and the Pawnee controlled eastern Colorado with the Kiowa taking over by the end of the century.

Camp Wardwell was established in 1865 along the Overland Trail to protect emigrants and supplies going to and from Denver and the mining districts. The fort was renamed in 1866 by General John Pope for one of his staff, Colonel Christopher A. Morgan, who had died earlier that year. The fort closed in 1868 after being used by 19 different companies from 11 cavalry and 1,300 infantry regiments soldiers.

In 1882 the Union Pacific and the Burlington & Missouri Railroads ran north and south of Fort Morgan, but there was no stop in town until at least two years later. By 1884 and with a great deal of negotiation by Abner Baker, tracks were laid and the stop in Fort Morgan built by the Burlington & Missouri Railroad

Over the last 120 years, the sugar beet crop has brought millions of dollars to local economies in Berthoud, Brush, Fort Collins, Greeley, Longmont, Loveland, and other places along the northern Front Range. Supported by irrigation, beet cultivation was lucrative for farmers, especially because Great Western brought in an inexpensive immigrant workforce. Beet farms and Great Western factories influenced the immigration patterns of northern Colorado, as they employed German, Asian, and Mexican immigrants.

    CHICAGO WEATHER

Chicago was Incorporated in 1837, The City was ideally situated to take advantage of the trading possibilities created by the westward expansion. The first railroad in Chicago was the Galena & Chicago Union, which was chartered in 1836 to build tracks to the lead mines at Galena in northwestern Illinois. The construction of the railroad network running between Chicago and outlying areas began in 1848, when the Galena & Chicago Union's first locomotive, named the “Pioneer,” arrived in Chicago. Within a short time, the line was completed to Oak Park, then west to Elgin.

In 1833, Chicago was a wilderness outpost of just 350 residents, clumped around a small military fort on soggy land where the Chicago River trickled into Lake Michigan. The site was known to local natives as Chigagou, or the “wild garlic place.” By the end of the century, this desolate swamp had been transformed into a modern metropolis of 1.7 million, known the world over for its dense web of railroads, efficient slaughterhouses, blast furnaces, and soaring skyscrapers.

    TRINIDAD WEATHER

Trinidad was first explored by Spanish and Mexican traders, who liked its proximity to the Santa Fe Trail. It was founded in 1862 soon after coal was discovered in the region. This led to an influx of immigrants eager to capitalize on this natural resource. By the late 1860s, the town had about 1,200 residents.

The Fred Harvey "Cardenas Hotel" in Trinidad, Colorado, was demolished in 1933. In June 1903, the elegant Cardenas Hotel, one of the famed Harvey Houses, replaced a wood frame building that housed a Fred Harvey eating house established in about 1895.

Trinidad Colorado Engine 638 was manufactured in 1906 and put into service with the Colorado & Southern R.R. for service at Trinidad for hauling coal, cattle, agricultural products and general merchandise. Later the engine saw service in other areas of Colorado. The last coal driven steam engine in service with the C & S, engine 638 was retired to this final location in a dedication ceremony that was held on February 10, 1963.

    WINSLOW WEATHER

City of Winslow is located in Navajo County, Arizona, having a population of the city is 9,005 inhabitants. The Santa Fe dominated Winslow's growth and workforce from the 1890s through the 1920s, when most freight and travelers crossed the country by rail La Posada was the result of an ingenious turn-of-the-century partnership between the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad/ATSF and the Fred Harvey Company. The ATSF did not initially provide sleepers or dining cars for its passengers, who were forced to rely on trackside establishments.

In the 1880s, the railroad became Winslow's primary source of income when it was established as a stop on the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad. The town was named in honor of General Edward F. Winslow, president of the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway, which was part owner of the Atlantic and Pacific along with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway/ATSF. Winslow's location as a livestock, trade goods, and lumber shipping point contributed to its growth and stability in the first half of the 20th century.

The Hopi Tribe Reservation is a sovereign nation located in northeastern Arizona in Coconino and Navajo Counties. The Reservation is made up of 12 villages on three mesas (known as First, Second, and Third Mesa) on more than 1.5 million acres.

    LA CROSSE WEATHER

A testament to the rich brewing legacy of La Crosse, the history of Old Style dates back to 1902. It was initially launched as Old Times Lager by G. Heileman's Brewery, but was renamed Old Style Lager shortly afterwards. Old Style was first brewed by the G. Heileman Brewing Co. in La Crosse in 1902. Heileman was the city's premier brewer from 1858 to the 1990s

AIOLOS (Aeolus) was the divine keeper of the winds and king of the mythical, floating island of Aiolia (Aeolia). He kept the violent Storm-Winds locked safely away inside the cavernous interior of his isle, releasing them only at the command of greatest gods to wreak devastation upon the world.

In 1937, the locomotive numbered 3002 was upgraded with roller bearings, light weight side and main rods, and other improvements, streamlines to look like a diesel engine, and reclassified as an S-4A. The locomotive was renumbered 4000 and names Aeolus – “Keeper of the Winds,” from the Greek mythology. The 4000 served as a backup for the newly introduced Burlington Zephyr passenger trains, often powering trains through La Crosse.
